NAPS NORTHERN SECTION
Thursday 25th of April to 28th of April 2013
Below you will find a sample of Auriculas and Primulas
used on this years display at the Harrogate Spring Show at the Great
Yorkshire Show Ground North Yorkshire. If you are not able to get to the
show to see it I hope this is at least a little consolation. We were
awarded a Silver Gilt in what was a very difficult year and the whole
team who provided plants and built the display are highly commended for
their hard work and dedication in maintaining such a high standard
despite everything our long cold winter has thrown at us this year.
Mark the team leader asked me to include the
After a very cold winter Harrogate spring flower show was upon us
again, the plants this year were very slow to come into bloom
especially the Auriculas. This gave me major concerns thinking would
we have a display this year, How wrong I was. Barry Thompson and
myself started the process of setting up the stand a day early again
this year, this the right decision as there were parts of the stand
that were missing they were quickly rectified by the Harrogate support
Wednesday arrived and I eagerly awaited the plants and the team, the
old faithfuls arrived with plants of excellent quality and plenty of
them, there were plenty of good primulas and a very good selection
of Auriculas, some stripes, this was nice and one stripe called Moody
Cow this caused a real stir at the show.
The stand was set up with only fifteen minutes to spare on setting up
day, as far as the team were concerned the Display this year was
stunning. To be honest I left the stand in the hands of the Judges
thinking Gold but on this occasion I was wrong and the team achieved a
silver Gilt. This was a little disappointing for the team however the
Judges gave feedback which was more in relation to the stand and not
the quality of the plants.
As a team we will take these points on board for next year remembering
the most important people are the public.
Once again I am proud to support the team at Harrogate and the
Northern Section of the Primula and Auricular Society, We will aspire
to work towards a gold award in 2014. May I take the opportunity to
thank the team Barry, Doreen, John, Joan, Reg, Bob, Jeanie, Sheila,
Colin, Viv and Kate, Len and Lesley, Brian. Sorry If I missed anyone.
